APPLICATION AREAS

Stonechip coated plate StoneREX

StoneREX façade boards are mostly used in construction and renovation work of private houses, apartment houses, public buildings and production and storage facilities and in construction of eaves soffits and balcony rails. StoneREX socle boards are boards cut to size and meant to be used to cover and insulate socles. In addition the boards can be used in gardening to build edges for flower beds, plant boxes, etc.
Covering the facades of buildings with StoneREX façade boards and socle boards reduces costs on energy, enhances ventilation of the facades and makes the building moisture and mould resistant. StoneREX façade boards and socke boards do not contain harmful substances for human health and environment and they help to create healthy internal environment in the buildings. StoneREX façade boards are strong and resistant against wear and mechanical impact, they are frost and moisture resistant, maintenance-free and preserve their good appearance for years.
As the volumetric weight of the boards is less than that of mastic concrete boards or cement fibre boards, they suit better in the application areas, where the weight of the material is important.

COMPOSITION

Betonyp cement bonded particleboards should be used as base boards under StoneREX stonechip coated façade boards and socle boards . The main components of Betonyp boards are cement and impregnated fine wood chip fractions made of high-quality pine. The boards are free from asbestos and formaldehyde and other substances hazardous for health or environment. The base boards are coated with natural stonechips of different fractions available in a wide range of colour shades.

MACHINING AND INSTALLATION

Size cutting of StoneREX boards requires the use of carbide tipped saw blades with the maximum tooth pitch of 6 mm. It is recommended to cut the boards from the smooth side not from the side coated with stonechips. The cut surfaces should be painted in matching colour.
StoneREX boards shall be installed on a wooden or metal frame and fastened with screws or rivets. The structure of the frame and fastening of the boards on the frame is shown on figure 1. There shall be deformation joints (3-5 mm) between the boards. In case a wooden frame is used, it should be treated with antiseptic agent. In untypical application areas the number of deformation joints, the size of the fastening screws and pre-bored holes shall be stipulated in the special design. For pre-boring holes for screws carbide tipped bits shall be used. Boring should be made from the side coated with stone-chips. For fixing the boards it is required to use screws made of stainless steel and the size of the pre-bored hole shall be 1.2 x diameter of the fastening screw. When fastening the screws too tight fixing and screwing in the board should be avoided – the board shall have slight space to move Countersunk-head screws shall not be used for fixing the boards.
In deformation joints joint tape or metal joint and corner stripes of matching colour may be used. In case of large areas drip steel plate should be used in horizontal joints. Stripes and screws can be painted in any RAL colour.

STONEREX PLUS BOARDS

StoneREX Plus cement bonded particleboards are stonechip coated facade boards and socle boards.

APPLICATION AREAS

StoneREX Plus façade boards are mostly used in construction and renovation work of private houses, apartment houses, public buildings and production and storage facilities. Compared to StoneREX boards StoneREX Plus boards are even more stronger and more resistant to environmental impact, they are ideal to be used in areas which are more demanding than usual environments, they can be used to cover facades and walls of the ground floors of public buildings requiring even bigger resistance against impacts and to cover the facades of agricultural and industrial buildings and warehouses. StoneREX Plus socle boards are boards cut to size and meant to be used to cover and insulate socles. Covering the facades of buildings with StoneREX Plus boards reduces costs on energy, enhances ventilation of the façade and makes the building moisture and mould resistant. StoneREX Plus façade boards do not contain harmful substances for human health and environment and they help to create healthy internal environment in the buildings. Thanks to the increased strength of the boards, the frame can be more open and there are less fastening screws required compared to the StoneREX boards.

PROPERTIES AND ADVANTAGES

StoneREX Plus boards are:

• very strong, wear and impact resistant
• resistant to temperature and moisture fluctuations caused by weather conditions and they may be installed in direct contact with surface
• with good thermal insulation
• facilitate ventilation in the buildings
• frost and water resistant
• non-combustible
• environmentally friendly
• insect and mould resistant
• with very good sound insulation properties
• do not contain substances hazardous to health
• installation is easy and does not depend on the season
• maintenance-free

COMPOSITION

Cemvin cement fibre boards covered with natural stonechips should be used as base boards under StoneREX plus stonechip coated façade boards and socle boards. The main components of a cement fibre board are cement, cellulose and polypropylene fibres, which give the boards mechanical strength, non-combustible properties and resistance to weather conditions. The boards are free from asbestos and formaldehyde and other substances hazardous for health and environment. Compared to the cement bonded particleboards, the cement fibre boards contain significantly more cement and as filler material cellulose is used instead of fine wood chip fractions, which makes the board stronger, more moisture resistant and with bigger volumetric weight than the cement bonded particle boards. The natural stonechip used for coating the boards is available in a wide range of colour shades.

MACHINING AND INSTALLATION

Size cutting of StoneREX Plus boards requires the use of carbide tipped saw blades with the maximum tooth pitch of 10 mm. It is recommended to cut the boards from the smooth side not from the side coated with stonechips. For pre-boring holes for screws carbide tipped bits shall be used. Boring should be made from the side coated with stonechips. For fixing the boards it is required to use screws made of stainless steel and the size of the pre-bored hole shall be 1.5 x diameter of the fastening screw. When fastening the screws too tight fixing and screwing in the board should be avoided – the board shall have slight space to move Countersunk-head screws shall not be used for fixing the boards.
The boards shall be installed on a wooden or metal frame, there shall be deformation joints (6 mm) between the boards In case a wooden frame is used, wood should be treated with antiseptic agent. The façade boards shall be fastened on vertical battens with the min size of 25 x 70 mm. The min size of battens used for supporting two boards at the same time shall be 25 x 95 mm. The pitch of battens used in a wall and socle frame is shown on figure 2. The vertical and horizontal sarking of the base frame shall be built of wooden battens with the size of 50 x 50 mm. In untypical application areas (glazed facades, greenhouses, rooms with constantly high moisture level or structures with frequent changes in environment conditions) the number of deformation joints, the size of the fastening screws and pre-bored holes shall be stipulated in the special design. In deformation joints joint tape or metal joint and corner stripes of matching colour may be used. In case of large areas drip steel plate should be used in horizontal joints. Stripes and screws can be painted in all RAL colours.
